These individuals are accountable for their own tasks within their job scope and delegated responsibilities. They possess a blend of factual, technical, and procedural knowledge, alongside some theoretical understanding of concepts and practices essential for person-centered support provision.

The skills acquired through this qualification must comply with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

To obtain this qualification, candidates must complete a minimum of 120 hours of specified work as outlined in the Assessment Requirements of the competency units.

  • The candidate must complete 18yrs of age or older at the time of course commencement.
  • Potential candidates may be asked to undertake an LLN Assessment / Enrolment Interview prior to acceptance.
  • The candidate needs to ensure that they have completed anyone of the following:-.
  • Australian Year 11 or an equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate III or Higher Qualification with an Australian Institution.
  • IELTS Requirements-The candidates needs to secure the English level of IELTLS 6.0, with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent such as.,

    General English Upper Intermediate MOI Certificate
  • Certificate III or Higher Qualification with an Australian Institution.
  • The candidate must have the ability to undertake a work placement at an aged care, home and community care, disability care or community service organisation.

UWA will provide access to computers with required resources during classroom hours to work on assignments and tasks, all learners are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with the Windows 7 operating system or higher at their own cost.  Learners should have an active email address for communication and be contactable by phone (mobile or landline) and by mail (postal address).  All learners should have access to MS office applications such as Microsoft Word and an email platform at their own cost.

Material Fees will only include printed reading materials and books provided by the institute.

Learners are also required to meet the dress, grooming and personal hygiene standards as outlined in the UWA Student Handbook and as would be expected in the occupation of a Care Worker, including wearing non-slip closed-toe shoes, surgical masks, gloves, goggles, glasses, face shields, gowns, aprons etc.

52 weeks comprising of 34 scheduled tuition weeks, 6 weeks of Work Placement and 12 weeks of holidays.

Assessment methods used for this course are Knowledge test, Case studies/Observation/Role play/Portfolio/Report, Project/presentation, Practical placement.

This course at Unified WA will be delivered through a combination of 15 hours per week of face-to-face classroom learning and 5 hours of supervised online learning. Students will also have access to a simulated environment as part of their training activities.
